Park Progress Continues And Your Help Is Needed!!
Eagleville Times - May 1, 2006

The City Park of Eagleville successfully secured a $300,000.00 grant. The life of the grant is 3 years and will end 18 months from now. But there is a major HOOK--- THE MONEY IS MATCHING MONEY ONLY---

So what does that mean? It means the Park must first spend money to complete a project. Once the project is completed and paid for in full, then the Park can draw matching funds from the Grant. The matching funds are equal to 1/2 the amount already spent and are given to the Park for additional project expenditures. Bottom Line… we have to raise money, spend money and then draw from the Grant.

At this point, some of the larger expenditures have been (approximate cost):
$55,000 for lighting
$15,000 for electric supplies and installation
$75,000 for concession & storage building
$10,000 for bleachers
$50,000 for playground equipment
$44,000 for fencing for all 3 ball fields

These expenditures represent a lot of hard work to raise the funds and sweat labor to complete the work. But there is still much to be done including completion of the parking area, building a pavilion, and creation of walking trails.

So you are needed to play your part in this community effort that will benefit folks in Eagleville and the surrounding county areas and communities. And now is the perfect opportunity to donate. When you give your money returns 50% back to the Park through the matching grant. So if you donate money or purchase a picnic table for $400.00, the park receives your donation and $200.00 more from the Grant funds.

You can support the park by direct donations and also by supporting the various fundraising events sponsored by the Park. All proceeds from these events will go directly to the completion of Park Projects Mark your calendars and plan to attend:

Alumni Basketball Game and Silent Auction – Saturday, April 29th—Eagleville School at 5:00 p.m.
